WYD 2005: Day Three

We visited the Beethoven monument, strolled through the town center up to the historic Town Hall, and prayed at the St. Martin Münster Cathedral. We spent the remainder of the morning at the Hofgarten park, the large lawn in front of Bonn University. We met many new friends from different parts of the world, said hello to them, chatted with those who could speak English and Italian, and took pictures with just about anyone. We also sang and danced with some Brazilians, Spaniards, and Slovaks.

WYD 2005: Day One

The Philippine flag. Backpack. Tent. Camera. Sleeping bag. Holy Bible. Prayer books. Jacket. Passport and ID. Mobile phone. Meal tickets. Bottled water. These were some of the things I brought with me on my pilgrimage to Germany during the 20th World Youth Day (WYD).

We Will Go And Worship Him

Backpacks on their shoulders, mobile phones in their pockets, the Bible and tourist maps in their hands. Most of them will join World Youth Day for the first time. They look eager, open and full of hope. And for one full week in Cologne, Germany their faith will be strengthened and renewed. Well, at least that is my hope for them.

The Gifts We Will Bring

Together with 35 other Filipinos, I am going to Cologne, Germany this Sunday to encounter Jesus Christ in the young people who will take part in the 20th World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations. The 36 of us represent the Filipino Community of the Diocese of Rome.
